Showing the steps I take to winterize my \’93 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 Things I left out: WASH the bike BEFORE doing this, I got carried away and started changing the oil before wiping the area around the drain bolt, if the area is not clean there is a possibility that dirt can get into the engine or that the washer won\’t seal properly and you\’ll drip oil. Fill gas tank up all the way with as little metal exposed as possible to prevent rust. Some people put a few drops of oil down their spark plug holes, then run the engine for a second, to lubricate the cylinder walls….
